Great start to the quarter!!

Hey team!

First, I need to know every one's free days. My free days are Tuesdays & Thursdays this quarter.

Also anytime Monday and Wednesday before 4pm I am free (as to I have 6pm classes these nights).

I also work weekends all day so if you ever need to reach me over the weekend send me a text I may not respond a.s.a.p, but its the quickest over the weekends.

Hopefully everyone made it home safely and didn't hurt themselves leaving BTFP like I did. =P.

Okay, to recap what was discussed today at the meeting:

Client would like:

• Image-Heavy Revamped Website
• Interactive Map (This could be HTML, Flash or both. But this depends on what team Enviro comes up with)
• E-mail Newsletter (This would be a quarterly newsletter, client would only need a template)*
• Facebook Fan Page*

Week 1 Assignment

1. Follow the blog
2. Answer weekly poll
3. Find 6 websites as an inspiration (this could be gardens, national parks, local get-a-ways anything. Local/Regional/National or International) These sites would focus on design.
• Write one paragraph each 12 pt Times or Arial
• Number the site. State the title of the site and bold the headline as well. i.e. 1) Big Trees
• Send as a PDF and include imagery
  
• Due Sunday (1/16/11) by 9am
4. Find 1 article related to the experience of the web for instance (How does the web affect print.. something along these lines). If everyone's having a hard time on this I may just skip it.
5. 2 Website Design Sketches of 3 pages using the provided PDF template
• Do not do the same 3 pages for the 2 design sketches (by hand and color in with markers, colored pencils, etc).
• Do NOT do the Contact, Donate or Visit Us pages as to these do not have as much information. Find new ways to layout the content.. search for website templates that help aid the design. Remember image heavy this includes headers/banners.
• Everyone must redesign the Home Page
• Be sure to be able to explain your design

• Send by Wednesday (digital mock-ups in Illustrator) so we can collaborate, make changes etc. (email) as PDF either scanned or digitized.

General Assignment

I'd like everyone just to brainstorm:

Brainstorm on what they would like as paraphernalia for the class i.e. T-Shirts (this would probably be the easiest). Think of ideas for what the t-shirts could say and post them on the blog.

Collaborate on a overall team name:

"Team Web Design" sounds kind of dull. By next week I think we should have a defined team name.
