Items to Upload

1. Post 1 final group site template to the blog. (Due Wed. Feb 2nd)                                Share additional templates to the ClockingIt drop box based on your group (as PDF)
2. Post 1 email newsletter template to the blog based on your final site layout.
3. Please email grid system (for team Enviro) based on your groups final site template.  Line Art PDF
4. Provide 3 possible facebook fan page ideas in which the client can involve the park user to the blog by Friday the 3rd.
5. Also: Be prepared for next week to do an HTML/CSS working comp of your website. Go ahead and slice your PSD images. Save as PNG.
6. Have all the website pages setup for presentation.

Hello everyone. My ideas for the classical website layout
is more along the lines of a simple manuscript or 2 column
grid. I feel that the sites that I have created probably need
to be a little wider and more exciting.

Week 2 Assignment

• Items to Discuss:
• Web Safe Fonts for Body Copy (Times New Roman, Verdana, Georgia, Arial and Tahoma)
• Site Map (Wireframe)
• 960, 970, 980gs
• Finalize Web Template (Due Friday, January 28)
• Within your groups that have been assigned create a template based on your avenue/style.
• Everyone should go back and re-design 1 fully designed website PSD or AI file. 1280 x 1024 (on a 980Grid System (wide))
• Once all color scheme and layouts have been finalized we will move on to the newsletter template

• Email Newsletter Template  (Due Friday, January 28)
• Provide 2 designs of a sample email newsletter template. 2 for each season.
• Gather enough research (from e-newsletter templates) and tie it in to your design of your web template
• Photography Scavenger Hunt
• Cameron and Ryan will get back to me on the photography.
• Favicon
• Facebook Questions
• Brainstorm: What are some things the client could do to involve park users through FB?
• Write your top 3 ideas to include in your process books. (post on the blog)

Team Name

Hello all,

I've posted 8 possible team names. If we don't have a majority we'll pick from the top names.

I'm still awaiting a color scheme from team ID, possibly we're doing a class vote? That may be ideal.

I am creating a team production schedule to outline the entire quarter.

Digital Comps

Today digital comps are due. 1024x768 pixels

(I know we all have a million things going on)

If you're not done not just bring them all in printed (color hopefully) for Friday and we can get class feedback.

Group Mind Map

Don't forget to add to the brainstorm using (http://bubbl.us) and do a screen-shot of your Big Trees mind map. I have started the mind-map it can be found on the Clocking It PMS under "Files" > "Brainstorm Drop Box" and you can download my PDF version to see what I came up with so we do not duplicate the same words/phrases.

If anyone has any questions or if anything is hazy please call me or text me (during the week this is the best way to reach me).

Great start to the quarter!!

Hey team!

First, I need to know every one's free days. My free days are Tuesdays & Thursdays this quarter.

Also anytime Monday and Wednesday before 4pm I am free (as to I have 6pm classes these nights).

I also work weekends all day so if you ever need to reach me over the weekend send me a text I may not respond a.s.a.p, but its the quickest over the weekends.

Hopefully everyone made it home safely and didn't hurt themselves leaving BTFP like I did. =P.

Okay, to recap what was discussed today at the meeting:

Client would like:

• Image-Heavy Revamped Website
• Interactive Map (This could be HTML, Flash or both. But this depends on what team Enviro comes up with)
• E-mail Newsletter (This would be a quarterly newsletter, client would only need a template)*
• Facebook Fan Page*

Week 1 Assignment

1. Follow the blog
2. Answer weekly poll
3. Find 6 websites as an inspiration (this could be gardens, national parks, local get-a-ways anything. Local/Regional/National or International) These sites would focus on design.
• Write one paragraph each 12 pt Times or Arial
• Number the site. State the title of the site and bold the headline as well. i.e. 1) Big Trees
• Send as a PDF and include imagery
  
• Due Sunday (1/16/11) by 9am
4. Find 1 article related to the experience of the web for instance (How does the web affect print.. something along these lines). If everyone's having a hard time on this I may just skip it.
5. 2 Website Design Sketches of 3 pages using the provided PDF template
• Do not do the same 3 pages for the 2 design sketches (by hand and color in with markers, colored pencils, etc).
• Do NOT do the Contact, Donate or Visit Us pages as to these do not have as much information. Find new ways to layout the content.. search for website templates that help aid the design. Remember image heavy this includes headers/banners.
• Everyone must redesign the Home Page
• Be sure to be able to explain your design

• Send by Wednesday (digital mock-ups in Illustrator) so we can collaborate, make changes etc. (email) as PDF either scanned or digitized.

General Assignment

I'd like everyone just to brainstorm:

Brainstorm on what they would like as paraphernalia for the class i.e. T-Shirts (this would probably be the easiest). Think of ideas for what the t-shirts could say and post them on the blog.

Collaborate on a overall team name:

"Team Web Design" sounds kind of dull. By next week I think we should have a defined team name.

Don't be scared about the web!

So, I know what you're thinking. "Why did I get stuck doing web design?? I completely forgot everything I learned since my Basic Web class.." That's not a problem. We'll take it slow (but not too slow).

Here in this blog we can all collaborate through posts and help each other out to create a website the client will love and that you too will love in the end.

So don't fret if I ask for a Wireframe it'll be okay!

Just in case we need to document any time I have signed up for a free online PMS (Project Management System). I have to create each log-in manually once I have a fully staffed team.
